This is Fencing.Net's improved version of the Leon Paul foil wire. Instead of the cotton sheathing, this foil wire uses an insulated wire that contains several layers of insulation.
This means that you won't have your foil blade grounding out on you because you snagged a bit of the cotton sheathing trying to wire up your foil using the stock Leon Paul wire.
You will see fewer pop-outs using this foil wire. Here's the nitty gritty as to why. It all starts with the three insulations on the wire:
- Polymer coating: red in color
- Neyless coating, looks like a very fine silk
- Seyless coating, much thicker coating than neyless yet is hard coating activated by a acetone bath. This is the glue for it. It is cured by acetone - perfect for a CA glueing process.
Finally, this wire is soldered to the contact base not like the LP crimp version.
You can pre-stretch this wire and then when you use our Fencing.Net CA Blade glue, you are assured a durable wiring job for your foil.
Have you ever noticed that you have fewer wire pop outs with this wire? This is the reason.
