For the first time in the history of fencing the X-Change system allows you to completely remove the bib in a matter of seconds.
The internationally patented X-Change system is a completely new approach to mask design; it allows the inner edge of the bib to be slotted securely into the aluminum extrusion on the mask where it is then locked in place.
Features of the X-Change Mask Design
- The bib and all the padding can be removed and machine-washed.
- The lamé at the sides of the mask, which is often the first to wear out, has been completely eliminated.
- The bib can be easily replaced when it eventually does become worn, which is especially useful for the relatively delicate lamé of sabre masks.
- The mask is significantly lighter because there is no overlap of materials, no spring case and less welding.
The X-Change mask comes with the contour fit system (see below) as standard. The shell of the mask will stand up to many years of use so aside from occasionally changing the bib this really could be the last sabre mask you ever buy! FIE approved for use in international A-Grades.
Contour Fit Details
Leon Paul’s new Contour fit system is the first major development in mask fitting technology since we introduced the adjustable elastic strap, which is now mandatory on all masks. Traditional masks are fitted relatively crudely and there is little that can be adjusted to get a comfortable fit. The new Contour System changes that. The two main elements consist of:
The Washable forehead restraint
This washable pad has three-point adjustment and an integral cushioned area for the crown of the head. The pad can alter how far your face sits from the mask shell and how tightly your forehead is gripped. The lining of the padding is made of a hi-tech breathable fabric, which actively transports moisture away from the skin, preventing sweat from running into the eyes.
The Contour fit Disk.
The disk is a flexible polycarbonate plate that moulds itself around the back of an individual’s head. It is attached to the mask by three adjustable elastic straps. These control tension and the position of the disk in both the horizontal and vertical plane. This means all aspects of the mask’s fit can be changed making it the most comfortable and secure fencing mask in the world.
