When I ordered my first Vniti I mistakenly thought I was ordering another of my long-serving Negrini X-large guards - I gave it a try instead of returning it and I'm glad I did. The Vinti is actually smaller than the Negrini in diameter (by .5 cm) and is far shallower that the Negrini- something I thought would bother me but instead found myself liking. The guard is far lighter than the two piece negrini and has an edge designed to handle hard hits without becoming sharp- another advantage. It's hard to make a direct durability comparison as I have one Negrini that's seen almost 10 seasons, but the Vniti is very strong indeed taking intentionally hard epee hits with no edge damage and has a finish which seems to resist scratching. My only issue with this guard is that each one has required me to file the blade hole to fit - not so easy as the metal is very hard indeed. The price also is high, but if they last anywhere near as long as the negrini guards it's a great deal.
